At the law office of attorney Joseph F. Causey, I bring a broad base of experience to clients throughout the Greater Phoenix area. Though I focus my practice on estate and elder law matters now, I use the knowledge, skill and experience gained handling a diverse array of legal issues, from bankruptcy and juvenile matters to personal injury and family law, to help my clients find the right solutions to their problems.

My Approach

I take a family-oriented approach to the practice of law, making certain that I maintain a high level of communication and contact with you throughout the course of my representation. Because I operate as a sole practitioner, most of my work with you will be one-on-one, so that you will have my full attention. I understand that legal concepts can be foreign; I take the time necessary to explain the law and the process, as well as your options, so that you know what to expect and can make an intelligent decision as to how you want to proceed.

I also believe in giving back to my community. For years, I have been active with the Arc of Arizona, a non-profit organization that provides services for people who are developmentally disabled, and have served as their legal counsel in the past.

My Practice

I focus my practice on matters involving:

• probate and estate administration. I work closely with executors, administrators, personal representatives and heirs, helping you complete the steps to successfully close the estate of a loved one.
• estate planning. I help individuals and families prepare for the distribution of assets and the care of minor children in the event of the death of a parent or guardian. I will prepare all the documentation necessary to put an estate plan in place, including wills, living wills, trusts, financial powers of attorney and healthcare powers of attorney.
• guardianships and conservatorships. I represent individuals who seek to have a guardianship or conservatorship established for a friend or family member who lacks the capacity to manage his or her own affairs.
