My Guardianship and Conservatorship Practice

When you hire me to help you protect the interests of you loved one, I will meet directly with you and learn as much as I can about your situation, including:

• the nature of your loved one's disabilities
• the options available within your family for care of your loved one in the event of your death
• the process for putting a legal guardianship in place
• ways to grant authority to another person to care for your loved one in the event you cannot

I represent people who have been given responsibility for caring for children who are not their own, including minors or children with special needs. I will help you prepare the necessary documentation should it require court involvement and prepare any estate planning documents such as special needs trusts in order to circumvent the otherwise required court involvement.

I will help you determine whether a permanent guardianship/conservatorship is necessary for your loved one.

I also handle petitions for temporary and/or emergency appointments of a guardian or conservator. This situation often arises with elderly adults, where in-patient hospitalization or unique medical treatment is required. I will help you get a temporary appointment during the course of treatment and convert that to a permanent guardianship or conservatorship, if later needed.
